Golf Holidays In Alexandria

Alexandria offers a very different Egyptian golf experience, combining historic golf with the atmosphere of the Mediterranean coast. Egypt’s second-largest city is known as the “Bride of the Mediterranean”, with a long Graeco-Roman history, waterfront dining and a cooler coastal climate than Cairo or Luxor.

The city’s best-known golf facility is Alexandria Sporting Club, one of Egypt’s long-established sporting institutions. It remains recognised by the Egyptian Golf Federation and continues to host national-level competition; the 2026 Egyptian Closed was scheduled there in June.

For golfers prepared to travel along Egypt’s Mediterranean North Coast, additional courses include Hacienda Bay Golf Club, Marassi Golf Club and Porto Marina Golf Club, giving the wider Alexandria/North Coast region greater potential for golf packages than Alexandria city alone.

Alexandria benefits from the Mediterranean influence and is noticeably milder than inland and southern Egypt. October through April is particularly comfortable for golf and sightseeing, while summer is warmer but tempered by coastal breezes.

Egypt’s tourism authority notes that the North Coast is cooler and more humid than much of the country, with Mediterranean beaches becoming particularly popular during July and August.

Alexandria is especially appealing for history and food. Visitors can explore the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Corniche, historic catacombs and archaeological sites, waterfront cafés and some of Egypt’s best seafood.

The city’s mixture of Egyptian, Mediterranean, Greek and Roman heritage gives it a completely different character from Cairo.

For longer stays, travellers can continue west along the Mediterranean North Coast, combining golf with beaches and resort stays.
