Golf Holidays In Laos
Laos is an emerging golf destination in Southeast Asia, offering a relaxed and less commercialised alternative to neighbouring Thailand and Vietnam. With scenic mountain backdrops, riverside landscapes and a growing selection of modern golf courses, the country is beginning to attract golfers looking for something different.
The main golfing centres are around Vientiane and Luang Prabang, where visitors can combine rounds of golf with cultural sightseeing, temples, markets, local cuisine and the slower pace for which Laos is known. Courses are generally quieter than those in more established Asian golf destinations, making Laos particularly appealing to golfers who value uncrowded fairways and a more laid-back experience.
Vientiane has the strongest concentration of golf facilities, with a number of championship-style courses within easy reach of the capital. Luang Prabang offers a more boutique experience, combining golf with one of Southeast Asia’s most atmospheric historic cities.
A golf holiday in Laos works particularly well as part of a wider Mekong or Indochina itinerary, with easy combinations possible with Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. Golfers can enjoy a few days of golf before adding cultural touring, river experiences and regional sightseeing.
While Laos is still developing as an international golf destination, that is also part of its appeal. Visitors can expect good-value golf, warm hospitality, distinctive scenery and the opportunity to experience a destination that remains relatively undiscovered by travelling golfers.
