Golf Holidays In Far NQ
Far North Queensland offers one of Australia’s most distinctive golf holidays, combining tropical courses with the Great Barrier Reef, ancient rainforest and some of the country’s most spectacular natural scenery. Cairns and Port Douglas provide the main bases for visitors, with golf easily combined with reef cruises, wildlife experiences and luxury tropical resorts.
Courses in the region provide a very different setting from southern Australia, with palm trees, rainforest-covered mountains and tropical vegetation forming the backdrop. The area is particularly appealing to golfers looking for a relaxed resort-style holiday with plenty to experience away from the course.
The Great Barrier Reef is the major attraction, with snorkelling, diving and island cruises departing regularly from Cairns and Port Douglas. Visitors can also explore the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation, travel aboard the Kuranda Scenic Railway, ride the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway or enjoy the restaurants and waterfront atmosphere of Cairns and Port Douglas.
Far North Queensland has a tropical climate with two distinct seasons. The dry season, generally from May through October, is the most popular period for golf, offering warm days, lower humidity and less rainfall. The summer wet season is hotter and more humid, with tropical rain and occasional storms, although mornings can still provide good playing conditions.
