Golf Holidays In Launceston
Launceston is one of Australia’s most exciting bases for a Tasmanian golf holiday. The city provides easy access to northern Tasmania’s celebrated golf country, including the spectacular coastal courses around Bridport, while offering excellent accommodation, restaurants and attractions for travellers between rounds.
For golfers, one of Launceston’s greatest advantages is variety. A trip can combine traditional inland golf with dramatic links-style courses overlooking Bass Strait, making it an excellent base for multi-course itineraries.
The relatively compact distances of northern Tasmania also mean golfers can experience outstanding courses and still return to Launceston to enjoy the city in the evening.
Cataract Gorge is only minutes from central Launceston and is one of the city’s signature attractions. The surrounding region is also known for cool-climate wine, particularly the Tamar Valley, along with excellent local produce, breweries and restaurants.
Golf groups can combine their rounds with winery visits, scenic drives, food experiences and day trips through northern Tasmania. Launceston’s relaxed scale makes it particularly well suited to three-to-seven-night golf escapes.
Launceston experiences warm, generally comfortable summers and cool winters. The warmer months from late spring through early autumn are particularly appealing for golf, with longer daylight hours providing plenty of flexibility for touring and playing.
Autumn can deliver beautiful conditions and changing colours around the region, while winter is colder and can bring frosty mornings. As elsewhere in Tasmania, golfers should pack layers because temperatures and conditions can change during the day.
